The story of Chris's Gremlin
Chris got a gremlin. Built it himself and tried to fly it. Unknown if it was technical problem's or CG or pilot error, but it crashed on it's first flight. Chris rebuilt it, and it crashed on it's second flight. M@ helped Chris rebuild it again, and M@ flew it on a dark and stormy night and it crashed yet again.
| Then M@ took it home and rebuilt it yet again. CG was defiantly in the correct place. This time it would defiantly fly. M@ plugged the plane into the charger to charge over night in hopes of a successful flight the next day. Then M@ went to bed, turning the light in the shop off... the switch to said light also controlled the power strip that the charger was plugged into. | ![]() |
| M@ came down to the shop the next day, turned on the light and unplugged the gremlin. M@ took the gremlin to the field, where Jim helped him get it running and it was launched and Jim trimmed it out so it was flying perfectly. Then the battery died when it was pointing straight down and it flew into the ground and is badly in need of another rebuild. | |
| So, 2002-04-15, M@ Rebuilds the gremlin once again. Used the Carb from my engine that survived the mid-air collision. Used rivets this time around to mount the engine. | ![]() |
| Update: 2002-04-16, it flies! Jim took it up to trim and said it didn't need any. Gave me the controls, I verified it flew like a bat outta hell, and brought it in to land. Need to get the engine idle trim set better, but she flies! |
